We are His

The months leading up to training camp were a time where I had to completely, intentionally rely on the Lord for peace and comfort, and most of all, I really had to trust in Him. I had to trust the Lord that He would surround me with people that would help me grow, encourage, and accept me. But knowing what I did about Adventures and knowing the Lord, I was sure I would feel right at home. Thankfully, when I got to Gainesville and finished checking in, I walked to the back porch of the main building where I was so welcomed by so many other participants. The greatest comfort was they were...

We are Going to Move Mountains

This blog was written by Argentina, a participant on the Guatemala – 2 week team, at the 2016 Ambassador Training Camp.   I can’t say I knew what to expect when I heard my trip started with two days spent in Atlanta, Georgia. I didn’t think I would so thoroughly enjoy falling asleep to the sound of cicada’s cricketing in the humid night air and I would not have guessed that pouring buckets over my head would be my new favorite way to shower. The most unanticipated surprise however, was how much these two days would change me. I knew that when God told me to go...

Back in Antigua

Team Guatemala is back in Antigua and we apologize for the lack of updates over the past few days. After spending ten days in San Pedro, we packed up the team and drove to Tulate. We spent three days doing ministry in this quaint beach town where the team had a chance to put their feet in the Pacific, play soccer with the local team, and put on some more VBS programs at local schools.  We did not have access to wifi, but it was a unique experience for the team to unplug for a few days. We drove back to beautiful Antigua today and we can’t wait to share more stories with you from...

Learning To Say Yes

Throughout these past few weeks in Guatemala, I have been searching for a “central theme” regarding what God is trying to teach me during my time here. And I think I found it. Two weeks before I left the U.S., I read a book called Kisses From Katie, and not only is it an incredible book, but it’s also the sort of book that really sticks with you. Going into training camp, I still had Katie’s words on my mind and there was one quote in particular I couldn’t shake: “I don’t always know where this life is going. I can’t see the end of the road,...

Numb

Numbness. It’s a feeling we’ve all felt at some point or other. Recently, I fell asleep on an exceptionally bumpy bus ride and woke up feeling as if I had lost a leg. Sometimes, when I was a diligent young student, I would be rudely awoken in class only to find out that I in fact could not take notes because I had laid my head on my hand and this rendered it periodically fuzzy feeling. In my walk with Jesus I have also periodically noticed this same feeling; sometimes my spirit feels numb. Sometimes my heart seems to be put of commission, slave to an alien sensation or no...

Lessons Through The Lens

Hello! This is Emily D. typing. I want to tell you a short story of how I gave my prized possession to an excited little boy. So, my team spent some time at a soccer field that we were going to play on but ended up just watching the other team and eventually going to play in the dirt. While we were watching the game, I pulled out my beautiful camera and started taking some pictures. I saved every penny and bought this precious piece of electronic before I left for my trip. It is amazing. It is like a child to me. Then, out of the blue, two boys around the age of ten galloped up the cement...
