I Didn’t Even Want to Board the Plane

When people ask me how Guatemala was, I tell them it was really amazing. I share the funny and touching stories and show them my favorite pictures.  But what I don’t mention is how hard it was and all the doubts I had throughout most of the trip.   Coming into this, I just assumed everything would be perfect.  I didn’t even consider all of the possibilities of what could go wrong.  So when a lot of unexpected things happened, I was frustrated and overwhelmed.  First off, I was shy and had trouble fitting in with my team.  I didn’t join in conversations...

Ask The Lord

ASK THE LORD July 22, 2016 Hey y’all! It’s now exactly a week until I get to see my parents again, and I’ll have to say goodbye to the wonderful people who have become my family for the past month.  Today, I wanted to tell you about a major part of our ministry for the past week! We’ve been doing mostly street ministry this whole week, which consists of talking to strangers and praying for them, along with these things called ATL’s, which stands for Ask The Lord.  To explain how it works, I’ll tell you one of the stories from this past Sunday!...

We Are Sons & Daughter’s

We Are Sons & Daughters   So I’m embarking on this journey that is my third week here in Guatemala. God has taught me so much. He has given me friendships that I am sure will last the rest of my life. He has granted me peace. He’s revealed an even deeper heart for teaching within me. God has shown me how the Holy Spirit moves and how limitless the Spirit really is.    it has been so cool to teach English in schools, discover cute Guatemalan coffee shops, conquer my fears, pray over villages, and practice my Spanish (shoutout to Ms. Powell)!! it’s been hard...

Reassurance

God does some truly amazing things. When we flew back from Guatemala and we were saying our last goodbyes, I felt the need to pray with my team for one last time. We all prayed and sang together outside of our hotel and tears rolled down my face as I thought of the amazing two weeks I had just experienced. I could not have asked for a better group of people to serve with.    When Jaala and I were flying home to the Great White North, our flight was delayed but I couldn’t help but feel at peace because I felt like I was meant to be there. Then we met Kay. She struck up a conversation...

Being a Quiet Leader

There are two different types of leaders, those who are bold and in your face and those who are behind the scenes observing and stepping in at the right time. I am more of the behind the scenes leader. Coming into this trip I was nervous about leading that I would not be good at it but the team has been encouraging and I am glad that I decided to be a leader of this group. The teens call me the calm one in the group of leaders. I’ll take that as a compliment. I hope that I have been a steady beat for the team and there to help calm all the stressful situations...

Faith: It’s Not what it Looks Like

Have you ever found out that something is actually the complete opposite of what you thought it was?             I can think of one recent instance in which this happened.             I am currently in San Pedro, Guatemala with Adventures in Missions’ Ambassadors program, and we have been doing some amazing things here with the help of our leaders and our host pastor, Antonio. Antonio is a long-time friend...
