Wonders Through God

This week God has changed my life in many ways. Throughout evangelism work and team time, he has taught me not only how to talk to him, but also how to listen to him. Through the stories of people we’ve met, I’ve grown in understanding and love for the lives of others. Before this trip, I took a lot of things for granted and thought of them as simple things: hot water, air conditioning, loving friends and family… While we weren’t in a particularly impoverished area, we were still in a place without many typical comforts. I realized exactly how blessed I am at home. I...

Transformed

My main goal for this trip to Puerto Rico was to not come back to the US the same person I was before. I wanted to be so transformed by serving, evangelizing, and growing in my faith with fellow believers that I would experience the presence of God like never before. I needed to get out of the rut of habitually praying, reading my Bible, and going to church without expecting to hear from God or desiring to know him better.  Romans 12:2 says, “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve...

No Longer Running

“Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much.” -Luke 7:47 Last night I experienced true forgiveness. I was filled with the Lord in a new way, unlike some spiritual events. Those fade and I lose that “God high.” No one can take this away though. Meg spent time praying over our team and she told the Holy Spirit to take complete control over her body, mouth, and actions. She laid hands on me and prayed that the Holy Spirit make my heart its home. She prayed that I would be filled with him and experience him and hear from him. Earlier...

The Man in the Salmon Shirt

I honestly have no idea how to write this out on paper to convey the magnitude of this experience in my life. I’m going to start with this: as a team, we went to evangelize in the town square of Ponce, Puerto Rico. My group split off from the others and prayed at the beginning for anything the Holy Spirit wanted to show us. I saw green and purple and heard bells, similar to the ones on top of store doors that jingle when you walk in. Through the prayer walk I was walking and feeling kind of discouraged because no one stood out to me and nothing really made me feel the overwhelming power...

First Experiences

Going on a mission trip for the first time can be intimidating, especially if you’re with strangers. However, it can also be life changing.  For me, this trip so far has been a memorable one. On the last night of launch, during our worship time, I experienced God’s presence in a way that I’ve always longed for. I think a part of my heart grew closer to God and for that I am so thankful. I’ve also experienced a lot of “firsts” on this journey. I’ve gone to three new places. I’m flown on a plane. I’ve done a prayer walk. I’ve done...

We are enjoying the time getting to know one another and the people/country of Puerto Rico.  Thank you for your support and prayers. Puerto Rico Team!
