Puerto Rico, Day 1

“Plant the good seeds of righteousness and you will harvest a good crop of Love.”  Hosea 10-12 On the first day in Puerto Rico, our team headed off to help out with a Vacation Bible School program at a church in Ponce, but plans changed slightly. When we got to the church in Ponce they ended up putting some of us in an elderly woman’s yard doing her yard work for her. I was on the yard work team while others painted and helped run VBS. On the yard work team, we spend the whole morning laughing and enjoying time together as a team as well as working hard for the Lord. Later on, we went back to Ponce on a prayer walk. We walked the streets and prayed for the police, the community, and different people we saw. The Lord worked in my heart specifically today when we came across a fountain that was trying to be filled, but not enough water was coming in. To me, that fountain represented the lack of love, and how on this trip we need to help people find the neverending love supply of love which is Jesus Christ. As we continue our mission of spreading the gospel, I hope to continue spreading love to one another and to the people in Puerto Rico, that we may influence them in some ways while we’re here. Puerto Rico out! Sahara...

Hello From Your Puerto Rico Leaders!

Hello from beautiful, balmy Gainesville, Georgia! This is Chelsea writing on behalf of the Puerto Rico leadership team. We just wanted to say how excited we are to meet our Ambassadors this Friday! This week, we leaders are planning, learning, praying, and dreaming about our team’s arrival. We are so excited to meet each of you in person and spend the next couple weeks with you pursuing God together! If you are a parent of a Puerto Rico participant (or any participant, for that matter) and you are not yet connected to the parents’ Facebook page, head over and search for Ambassador...

The World Needs You (to be Real)

“You’re going to change the world one day, and I don’t think you know it yet.” It was one of our last nights in Puerto Rico, after our third visit to the emergency room, that those words etched themselves onto paper and landed in my hands. Being responsible for 18 teenage girls is no joke. The long and late hours sitting in a fluorescent-lit room filled with Spanish and coughing told me just as much. I had no idea what I’d signed up for, and I don’t think I would have wanted to know if God had allowed me a peephole into the future. As an anxiety-filled doubtful...

Puerto Rico: Finding Unity

1 Corinthians says, “Love is patient, love is kind.” That verse is so easy to say but not quite as easy to live out. Especially when you put 18 teenage girls in a confined space and give them work projects in 100 degree Puerto Rican heat (at least it seems like 100 degree in the barrio where wind is not common). Training camp was all fun and games (quite literally) but the mission field turned out to be much more difficult–emotionally and physically.  Ephesians 5:11 says, “Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.” So...
