18 Things to Do While 18

Hey everyone. This past weekend was my 18th birthday and I’m honoring it with a blog post of 18 things to do in the next year. The symbolism of spending my 18th birthday in Ireland, away from my parents and my home, is not lost on me. I am incredibly thankful to have this opportunity to further the Kingdom and explore a new part of the world. May this be the first adventure of many.  18 things to do while I’m 18… 1. Buy a plane ticket to somewhere I really want to do. 2. Graduate high school. 3. Try 18 new foods. 4. Get a tattoo. 5. Buy something off an infomercial.  6....

Socks

Blogging, dude… Not my thing. Anywho, it’s Madyson. Tonight’s topic: “Home” sickness.  T minus seven days until we fly back to the States and, as Abbi so eloquently commented today, we’d all rather hide toilets (or bathrooms, as you Americans call them) and abandon our flight home. Additionally, I just discovered that Irish keyboards are not identical to American keyboards, and spent a solid four dang minutes searching for an apostrophe. Personally, I haven’t yet acknowledged the fact that we have only one week remaining; my brain can’t exactly...

Ask and The Lord Will Lead: Some ATL at Work in Baltimore, Ireland

After finishing up with day two of Kid’s Club in Baltimore this morning, we decided it was time for some street ministry. I can’t speak for the whole group on this, but this was something I had been looking forward to since the moment we arrived in Ireland. We were split up into groups of three and then given an hour to do whatever the Lord led us to do. I was grouped with Maddie and Hannah, and I have to say we started out clueless and confused. It started in a coffee shop/bar/I have no idea what to call it. We sat down and decided we would pray for guidance in the next hour and...

Party in Baltimore, Ireland

Incredible. That’s the only word I can think to describe this country. From the people… to the beauty I see everywhere I look… to this amazing team. Incredible. We are currently tackling week number two! We have about sixteen or seventeen days left here in beautiful Ireland. It’s honestly extremely crazy to think that I’m in a different country. Sometimes I find myself walking along the countryside roads taking in all the amazing scenery then think, “I’m in a different country. I left everyone in America to go spread the love of Christ.”...

First Glances of Ireland

We have arrived.Five days ago, actually. But the the jet-lag and simple fact that we’ve been soaking up EVERYTHING…we have neglected the blog. But don’t fret… no more.I will do my best to get every single one of the teammates to blog at least once. This week we have been living in Drimoleague…Sleeping in tents. We live on the most beautiful mountain…It hardly feels like a mission trip,But the Lord is blowing us up in so many ways that it’s evident that we’re here for a divine purpose and reason. We see rolling hills everywhere we look.People have...

Let the Hills Hear Your Voice

“Here what the LORD says: Arise, plead your case before the mountains, and let the hills hear your voice.” – Micah 6:1   It is hard to believe a week has already passed since the eleven of us started out on this crazy journey the LORD called each one of us on. Training camp was exactly what each of us needed before we left for the beautiful country we are now calling home for the next few weeks, and though we have only been here four days, God has already done so much.   We are staying in the small village of Drimoleague, Ireland at the most picturesque campsite I...
