Ministry Snapshots

Hello friends! God is working so powerfully in Swaziland!! Today some of us went to the Hope House, which is a place for people who are recovering from injury or sickness. I met this one man named Mark. He was in a car accident last year, and he broke several bones. He recently had to have surgery, and he is in the Hope House recovering. He had such strong faith! He said that even though he is suffering, he trusts God and knows that God is using this time to make him stronger. He was so happy that we visited him! He said that he has family but none of them had come to see him. We were able...

Like a Child

One of the ministries we participated in was at a homeless shelter where the majority of our team helped serve dinner to the residents. We had too many girls to work in the kitchen so I got to walk around and talk with some of the people eating there. The evening started with my hair French braided but was quickly taken down for some little girls to play with as they talked to me and giggled and smiled. A few of the moms were not happy with their daughters so they conveyed this in various ways. Some of them yelled and said words I wouldn’t repeat, others grabbed their child and...

The Ireland Team Has Arrived

Sorry for the Delay.  (Posted by Adam Veltman) The team and I have safely arrived in Ireland!  After three days at training and about two days of traveling we are settled down. We are staying in a backyard and sleeping in tents. So far we have gone out into the community handing out flyers for a kids club we are leading this week, helped with the last day at a kids club in Drimoleague (which is about 15 minutes away), went swimming in a river with Irish teens, went to a teen cafe, and finally had a day at the beach today. I speak for the rest of the team when I say that even...

Plans Change, God Does Not

Monday evening, after a day of training, all of us were prepared and excited to head out to our first ministry opportunity.  However, we had received the wrong address and had taken a bus 30 minutes in the wrong direction.  We quickly headed to another bus stop hoping to make it to the ministry in time to still serve even if we were a little late.  The bus routes were confusing though and we hopped on another wrong bus.  We ended up in front of Lake Michigan where the bus driver kicked all of us off the bus because the route had ended.  We took a few minutes...

First Impressions of Swazi

Sawubona! I’ve never been so content and felt so blessed to be sitting in the dirt with a small child sleeping in my lap. The only communication we had was his snoring which was surprisingly loud for a child his size. I am thrilled to spend our day at these care points for the coming weeks. -Georgia It’s only day 1 and the Lord has already wiped away every doubt I’ve had. There have been a couple times when I questioned God and I have wondered if this is what He has called me to do. Yet, running around with the children made all that go away. I am here for a reason. And...

Exploring Manzini

Hi friends! Praise God that He has gotten us safely to Manzini, Swaziland. After 3 days of training camp in Georgia, a crazy long plane ride, and now one day in Swaziland, our team is truly growing into a family. Today we explored Manzini, learning the important places and getting to know the town. We went to a small hospital and prayed for the sick people there. Tomorrow we will start our ministry, which will include a LOT of working with children. I look...
