We Made it to Peru!

It is officially 12:49am and we are sitting in Lima, Peru.  We are excited to finally be in Peru, but the team is very worn out with all of the traveling.  We left Gainsville this morning at 3:00am and we haven`t stopped traveling yet!  The Lord has blessed our team with safe travels and we have one more flight to go.  We should arrive in Iquitos around 6am.  Please pray for strength and that we may rest in the Lord.    God is already beginning a great work, he has taught our team about trust, patience, and His will.  This afternoon we received...

Selah

Our time in Musho and Tumpa has sadly ended. We´re currently in Huaraz, about to board a bus to Lima for a time of prayer and processing. We would like to thank you all for your prayers and support as God´s hand was indeniably over our ministry.   Selah: Looking back and thinking about what we have done: We´ve been seperated into two different ministry groups based on discipleship groups. I´ll start with Chelsea´s group: Meghan, Sarah H., Ally, Liana and Kyle. This past week we met twopeople that will forever be on our hearts, Hacoba and Alfredo....

Week Two Update from the Lima, Peru Team!

Hola Amigos y Familia,   All is well as we are in the midst of our last week in ministry in Tumpa! Since we were last able to write, our team has had the chance to continue visiting those we have built relationships with in Tumpa. The people are very open to the word of God, and ask many good questions as we share our hearts for the Lord with them. As Peru is a traditionally Catholic country, much confusion abounds about the saints and traditional worship of idols in the church. In our conversations with the people of the town we have seen the Lord open eyes and hearts as we share...

Update from the Jungle

I talked to Jason today and he said the team is in good spirits. The guys were feeling very esteemed in their manhood because the locals brought an alligator they had captured up for them to help kill and clean. It was safe as Jason & Sean were the two that really got their hands dirty. But to say the least it was an experience to be remembered. The team had a baptism service where many of them were baptized in the Amazon! What a place to confirm your commitment to the Lord! I am sure they will have more to say about that when they can tell you themselves. They had a great service on...

Ministry in Tumpa!

Hello friends and family! We´ve arrived and begun diving into relationships with the locals. Our first full day in Peru was spent in Lima walking around, going to different museums and learning more about Peruvian culture. After an eight hour bus ride to Huarraz and then a 1 hour “combi” or van ride to Musho we finally made it without any problems. We are living in Musho, directly behind the church we are working with and living at 10,000 feet. We are still adjusting to the altitude and breathing a little heavier than te Peruvians. Though we are living in...

Ollante

Last night the team arrived in Ollante after a five hour trip. We think it’s spelt O-L-L-A-N-T-E because a women wrote it in the mud for them, however…each time it’s spelt differently! You most likely won’t find it on a map. The team is currently staying at a place 10 feet off the Amazon River. Under their temporary abode, there are still pools of water. Looking out you can see 20-30 handmade canoes. Team leaders Ami and Emily who are passing along the updates today…say it’s a beautiful picture. Yesterday on their trip, they stopped at a village where...
