DR Team Update #1

So coming on this mission trip I was definitely expecting a spiritual high. Yes, I know that is far from the purpose of going to another country to serve. However in the back of my mind, I was definitely expecting to be filled with the Spirit, and I found comfort in looking forward to that. What I didn’t realize at the time was that I was unconsciously expecting to draw that strength and comfort from my team and others around me. When I arrived at training camp, it wasn’t what I expected. I wasn’t “feeling the Lord” nor was I able to draw strength from the...

DR Team Update #2

Roman Noffsinger,   Throughout this trip, I have had some super Godly moments. We woke up one morning and decided to worship with the Beauty for Ashes group that was also staying with us in the Dominican Republic. While we were worshiping you could feel the presence of God all around. A lady named Rita walked up to me and told me that God said I’m going to be a minister to someone down here and throughout my life. After worship, they pulled out cards that the Beauty for Ashes team wrote prior to the worship. We each got to randomly choose our own anonymous cards. It just so...

Blemished but Loved

Hello Everyone! I’ve reached around 33.3% of the way through my trip! I want to start out this blog by giving a huge thanks to everyone who helped me to get here; everyone who helped me financially; the many multitudes of people that prayed over me for the last few months and continue to pray for me; and those who helped me understand missions more and gave me various tips. Over this past week, there has been a lot of long and sometimes exhausting tasks we’ve had to go through, the hardest and most tiresome of which was travel. We had two flights, the first over 13 hours...

Close to Us

We have been in Nepal for a little over a week and Papa is doing some amazing things here. I can only put into words a glimpse of what Papa has been teaching me. Our first day of ministry we spent praying and getting to know our host ministry. Afterward, we went to a Hindu temple that oversaw the whole city of Kathmandu and while we were there we prayed over the city and its people.  The temple is placed on a foothill and by foothill, it is actually climbing the side of a mountain (in my opinion, haha). After reaching the temple I was so exhausted and it was beyond humid. When we...

Hidden Opportunities From a God Who Understands

Hello everyone!   I still can’t believe that we are in Nepal! Everything in the culture here is so different. Our ministry host is so incredible and so generous to have us here. Brian has been so welcoming and hospitable to us.   As far as ministry goes, we have spent some time in the slums as well as teaching English to women at risk in the women’s center. Both of these have been amazing experiences that I have learned so much from, but so far my favorite ministry opportunity that I’ve had was actually before we even got here.    I was sitting next to...
