Ashes and Happiness

What are the things that make kids happy? Barbie dolls, iPads, McDonald’s, XBox, Legos, Hoverboards, and the list is never ending. These toys and inanimate objects never really satisfy them, because by Christmas they need a whole new bunch of toys. Imagine sending these children outside to play on an ash covered road with only a worn out soccer ball. How long do you think this would entertain them? 15 minutes? 30? I would say that it would be less than 10 minutes before at least one of them started to complain about something. “It’s too hot”  “I...

First days in San Pedro, Guatemala

We have been in San Pedro, Guatemala for 4 full days now working with Pastor Antonio and the community he works with in San Pablo. On Tuesday we visited his church and he told the testimony of how it was started and built. The team got to meet some of the children who go to the school that is attached to the church and play some games with them. In the afternoon, we got lunch and prayer walked around the city. We stopped on the beach to enjoy the view and pray for God to work in the city. Wednesday we went back to the school and the team spent time with several of the classes. The...

So Far, So Great!

We had the opportunity to try many “Swazi Sweets” including Chappies (a type of gum), Smarties (a white chocolate candy bar filled with treats), and much more! Strolling through the city center we were able to meet many people in the markets, near by parks, and local businesses.  Our next few days, we will continue to...

However, I now know that the name could not have fit more perfectly.        ...

Peace

Peace, by Abby Bender   The last few days have been so incredible and it is so evident how God hand-picked this team to do amazing things. Here, that has not been me. I have been described as the “quiet one”. I noticed the change in me and was aware that I was not as talkative as I normally am, and it bothered me until I...
