Student Blogs Part 3

Blog by Jen Wahlers The past few weeks have been an adventure for all of us. One of the most difficult adjustments for me is leaving the familar and venturing into something completely unknown; a different enviroment, different people, and new experiences. Stepping out of my comfort zone made me lean on the only familar thing left, God. It has given me the chance to truly open my heart and listen to what He needed me to hear. Waiting and listening have always been difficult for me, I like things to move quickly and happen in my own timing, but of course it never works out that way....

What Happened in Haiti Can’t Stay in Haiti

We’re home! Safe and sound! And our REAL stories are just too good to keep to ourselves! July 5, 2010…Apparently American Airlines thought that we showed up to the Atlanta airport at 4am to hang out for a couple hours with about 150 other people who didn’t speak English… Good ‘ol airline worker Jean came to the rescue after we stood in the same place for two hours and kindly told us as the rest of the crowd that the reason we hadn’t moved was because we weren’t standing in the RED line on the floor… DUH! We got to the desk to check all of...

We Love Monteblanco!

Here is another blog post from one of the girls! Enjoy 🙂       Today is one of our last days at home in Monte Blanco.  It’s so strange that in just a few days we’ll be traveling away from these people who have become as big a part of our team as all of us are.  They’ve been cooking for us, hanging out with us, and amusing us with some very choice phrases in English like, “You’re beautiful”, “You don’t know me”, “I am handsome”, and “Please don’t go”.  We have volleyball...

Finally  we have internet access! several of these notes from the girls have been written for over a week now… so much has transpired since then but they are still moving and relevant stories of what Jesus is doing. We are so sorry to have not been able to obtain access to the internet until now. Blog by Christina:Days have passed at a rapid pace and my heart’s desire has remained the same. This desire I hold deep within, is that God would break my heart for these desperate people. God has done more than that. Instead of breaking my heart He has renewed...

The Fruit of the Spirit is RIPE in Haiti!

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control… Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. (Galatians 5:22,25) There are numerous stories that I could tell about our time in Haiti.  Stories of despair, fragility, restlessness, and sorrow could easily be the anthem of my words, yet the story I am to tell is one of hope, life, thanksgiving, and joy!   Over six months ago, Haiti was…._______________.  (You fill in the blank…)  It seems that in some...

This Month Has Been…

It’s been a few days since arriving back in the U.S. and although I’m tired I’m starting to process this past month of being in Romania. Here are just a few things this month has been to me. 1) COMING ALIVE. One of my biggest passions is watching people come alive in Christ. I love the process of dying to yourself and risking it all for Christ. Our team of 6 high school students and 3 leaders did just that. They risked big things for the Lord by leaving there families, friends and comforts behind and got to go on a trek to Romania. In these risks Christ broke of parts...
