“Let my heart break for what breaks your’s.” A prayer holding so much brokenness but unimaginably more beauty. To say it simply, my heart broke this week. It was the moment when I stood with my hands joined around two orphan boys as a part of my team prayed they would never feel fatherless because they have a father in heaven who loves them more than an earthly dad ever could; It was the moment I had to watch children not even old enough to begin primary school find empty beer cans and play pretend that they were mean and drunk because when they go home that’s the example...

As we conclude our two weeks of ministry at the CarePoints, I have begun to reflect on the many lessons I have learned as we spent time ministering. On our last day, my team listened the choir practice at our CarePoint. As I sat and listened to a group of children sing with joy to the Lord, I was overwhelmed by the love of God. The kids at the CarePoint have nothing compared to American culture, yet they are filled with joy and hope. Though most of the kids will go home to families where poverty is common, they still sing praises to God and express so much happiness and love of life....

One of the big reasons why I wanted to go on this mission trip was to have the opportunity to love on children. I have always had a heart for African kids and some day in the future I want to adopt from Africa. One of my dreams since I was in middle school was to go to Africa and love on kids, but more importantly show them how much God loves them. In these past two weeks that dream has become a reality. The CarePoint I was able to serve at was called Bheveni. At Bheveni I was able to play with kids, serve them food, and just hold them in my arms. All of the kids would run up to you and just...

Guys, God is so so good. Just seeing Him move during this entire trip has been so amazing. Coming into this trip I was extremely nervous. I had never been away from home for so long, my aunt had just pasted away, I was a wreck. I was so worried my fear and pain would keep me back from everything God had for me here, but boy was I wrong. I can’t explain the peace God has given me during this whole trip. He really saved me from feeling overwhelmed by homesickness and I can’t believe we only have a week and a half left. We went to the carepoints for the first time last week and it was...

I have already had some of the most enjoyable moments in my life!My favorite memory, has been watching the Lion King with my team and singing all the songs! An update on the luggage, it has been found, but unfortunately it has been shipped back to my home in the US. Although I’m happy it is safe, I still do not have any luggage for the rest of the trip. The views here are incredible!!! Africa...

This trip has been incredible! I’ll admit, going on this trip was terrifying for me. I was scared of the team dynamic, adapting to the living conditions, and ministering to complete strangers, but it has been nothing short of amazing! My team clicked immediately and we are just one big family. My leaders are awesome and they are funny, easy to talk to, and great examples of what it’s like to follow in Jesus’ footsteps. I didn’t expect to feel so “at home” here and it’s awesome that I’m so comfortable. The care points have been amazing. Playing,...
