Ziar

Title: Ziar
First let me start by saying all the kids here in Jamaica are so amazing. They are so fun and loving and you can just tell that they love to be loved and played with. One little boy has really stood out to me among the rest. His name is Ziar and he is 5 years old. I’ve been watching him for about two days now, he doesn’t talk to anyone and when you go up to talk to him he runs away. I tried so many times to connect with him and he just wouldn’t let me. Finally I bribed him into coming over to me by giving him one of the “Jesus loves me bracelets” I brought for the kids. He sat in my arms for an hour and I just loved on him. I asked him so many questions and he wouldn’t answer any of them. I asked him his name probably a thousand times but he wouldn’t say anything. After literally a whole hour of asking him his name I finally got it out of him. He still didn’t talk much after that. I’m not sure if he doesn’t really know how to talk or if he just doesn’t like to talk but we played together all day. He literally wouldn’t leave my side. It really touched my heart that I could connect with him so much knowing that he obviously doesn’t really connect with people that often. He had the biggest smile on his face the whole time we were playing with each other it was so amazing. God was really working through me so that I could build a connection with this amazing little boy. The next two days I wasn’t able to see him because we went away during the time that the kids usually come and play.I was really hoping that I was going to get to see him when we came back those two nights but I didn’t. The next day I was so happy because I was actually going to get to see him. I see his cousins come up to the gate and I go over to them and ask where he is. They tell me that he isn’t coming anymore, his mom came and got him and “licked” him. Then they proceeded to show me what “licked” meant and they were hitting each other on the arm. This really broke my heart and I couldn’t stop crying. I really prayed hard the next few days that I would get to see him and show him love that he probably wasn’t getting. I never got to see him but as I kept praying God sent peace through my body and he told me that he was going to be alright. I feel so much better about the situation even though I didn’t get to see him. So please keep him and his family in your prayers that they will just come to know Jesus Christ and that they will form more love in their hearts.
