1 Week Home

My frist full week of being home is over and I am thankful to be home don’t get me wrong; but there is something in me that is ready to be back out on the field now. I’m still learning how to take everything I learned on field and apply it here at home.  Since being home I have started reading my bible again and writing things down that don’tt want to forget or things that I need to work on. My relationship with God has grown so much from being able to have this opportuinty. I now take time out of my day to sit and talk with God.  My family has been as...

Fire.

In my last post, I had just given you glimpses of how I’ve been living in Uganda. But of course, that just scratched the surface. I want to let you in on what I’ve been experiencing spiritually (I will try to make it as condensed as I can bear, because I could probably write for days about it). Here’s the background story:Before leaving Uganda, I asked the Lord to give me one thing that I could ask people to pray for during my trip. However, sometimes when you ask God for a cup of water, He gives you the ocean. Instead of one straightforward prayer request, He brought...

To be More Like Jesus.

Hey friends,As my time in Uganda is coming to a close, I’ve realized what it means to be more like Jesus. I’ve learned what it means to talk like Jesus, walk like Jesus, love like Jesus. Talking like Jesus is listening to a strangers life story. It’s telling them that we love them and care about them. It’s praying for them without ceasing. Walking like Jesus is going an hour out of the way to share worship songs and God’s love with 1,600 kids. It’s going to different homes and  picking G-nuts out of the ground. It’s drawing water from a well a...

Standing on Holy Ground

My team of 15 girls and 2 leaders were split into two groups and assigned a care point. My co-leader lead one team and I was assigned to the other. Our care point would be Ntabas, conveniently located just 5 minutes walking distance from our homestead. We weren’t sure exactly what all we’d be doing at the care point, but my girls and I were ready for just about anything our first day. As we walked onto the property we were immediately greeted by a sea of little preschoolers running towards us. Each jumped into the arms of one of the girls and wrapped their arms around...

What God Taught Me In Swaziland

As this incredible journey is coming to a close, I want to reflect over a few of my journal entrees from this past month. God has taught me so much and I truly feel like I’ve grown closer to Him. This is a little bit personal, but I’ve thought and prayed about it and I feel like God wants me to share it with you. I’ve narrowed it down to 13 and no one is more important than the other, but these were definitely the most practiced. Trust – As a girl who enjoys planning out my schedule so I can expect what my day will be like, this trip has been difficult for me. We...

Traffic Stop

Every morning my team would wake up to either, the sunrise, a cowbell, people nudging us until we woke up, and on the most rare occasion, waking up on our own. After that we would eat breakfast, do our personal devotion time, then get ready for a day of street ministry. Street ministry is pretty much what it sounds like, going out on the streets and doing ministry however we could. Sometimes it would be talking to someone about their business or asking if they needed prayer for something. If it was a really good encounter we would get to talk to them about Jesus and what the gospel meant to...
