Little is Much

Our first morning in Nicaragua, we had just finished breakfast and as I was walking across the compound I met a little girl, Sarasha.  She was with her Mother, visiting the doctor at the clinic onsite.  The first thing she did was confidently offer me one of the two cookies she was eating for breakfast.   Even though she had little (two white oreo like cookies) for her breakfast, she was so readily wanting to share with me.   I accepted her cookie, twisted it and offered half of the cookie back to her, showing her I also wanted to share. We introduced ourselves to each...

Mahanain

Today we went to Mahanain, the poorest community we will be visiting on this trip. This community has no water, no electricity, and no actual bathrooms. On the drive there, there was an awful smell, due to the nearby shrimp factory. Despite this unwelcoming stench, the community was very inviting. I had the opportunity to talk with an elderly woman, named Julianna, and two young girls. Before we sat down and chatted, she made sure to brush off the chair well. I saw this and appreciated the fact that though she had little, she wanted to make sure that what she did have was in tip-top...

Jefferson and Kevin.. (Guat 4)

As I ventured out on day 2 of serving in Guatemala, my leader announced to the group that it would be a good idea to make connections with the kids that we would meet that day, because we would be seeing them again soon. As I listened to the announcement, I loved the prospect of it, but didn’t really think twice about the idea, as young kids have never exactly been my forte. I was expecting to step in, say “Hola”, give them a smile and be on my way. We arrived at the village and I began doing just that. That is until two young boys and I continued to cross paths. I finally...

He Accepted Christ!

Hey guys! Livin’ the missionary life down here in Nicaragua! Currently staying at a place called Vision Nicaragua. The property is so pretty and green. It’s hot here, but not Georgia hot. There’s no humidity. We’re drinking lots of water and gatorade. I’m so in love with this country. Today we went to San Carlos a little village close to Chinandega (where we are staying). The team split up in two groups and went around door to door. We shared how important having a relationship with God is, showing love, and praying for locals. Most of the men that work in the...
