Open Air Service

As we unloaded out of the pick up trucks, kids started crowding around us.  People began to sit and get ready for the service.  One family with two elderly people and a young girl came and sat in the front next to me.  All were seated except for the young girl–I was confused and intrigued.  The service continued with songs and skits and testimonies, but, out of the corner of my eye, I could still see the girl standing.  At the end of the worship, Pastor Antonio welcomed the family to the front and we prayed over them.  It turns out that the girl was...

Prayer Walking in San Juan

Thursday, we attended a festival in San Juan.  Our team broke into small groups with the goal of praying for the city and talking to people about Jesus.  Chelsey, Lizzie and I walked around and said ¨Hola¨ to all the little kids, including three shoe-shine boys.  After we passed them, Chelsey said, “Hey guys, I think we should go back and talk to those boys about Jesus.” Lizzie and I felt skeptical because of the language barrier, but Chelsey convinced us.  We walked over and sat down next to them while Chelsey pulled out a Spanish tract and...

Sharing, Testimonies, Drimes, and More

Everything is going great. We have gotten great opportunities hanging out with the women at the womens shelter. Singing Praises

After presenting nearly fifty precious Mexican children with the parable of the lost coin we realized that we were stuck with the middle age group and had nothing prepared. Expectant faces stared at us from wooden church pews but we could not allow ourselves to panic. We quickly searched our brains and rapidly decided upon leading the children in a song time. Those minutes filled with worship turned out to be the highlight of my day. The Lord brought to mind...

Heartbreak

My visit with Martha yesterday was heartbreaking. Martha is a Mexican friend of mine from a few years ago when I used to live in Mexico. She can best be described as a sweet, motherly lady that always has an open door for the kids or families in the community. I first met her about 4 years ago when she stopped me on the street to ask me what I was doing walking past her house all the time. We instantly hit it off and I returned to visit her a few days later with someone who spoke better Spanish. With my friend translating she was able to communicate to me that she always saw me walking past...
