The Last Couple of Days…

Our first week of VBS is finished! We would definitely deem it a success, thanks to God and His grace. We had a great time working with the Peruvians here. We´ve learned lots of new songs and a memory verse in Spanish (which we´d love to sing to you whenever we get home). Every morning,  we´d prepare for our skits, stories and crafts, and then perform for our Peruvians friends so they can join in when the kids came. We had an average of about 40 kids come everyday. The story for the first day was David and Goliath, and the second was Jonah and the Big Fish (complete...

Day of Rest

Hello everyone back on the home front, all the students say hello.  We have been having a great time the last few days seeking Gods direction.  You have truly blessed us as leaders with great kids.  We could not have asked for a better team.  As I write yall this letter I am sitting in an office with a roster crowing every two seconds so bare with me if I run off course.  The Spirit has been moving in our group a lot the last few days.  We have been spending time listening to what he has to say, and it has been very sweet.  God is good.  Yesterday we...

DR Ministry Update

Yesterday  we traveled to the mountains, which are about a 40 minute drive from San Juan where we are staying. It was a day of fun and ministry. There was another American team there doing medical work and when we arrive we greeted them and then went down to  the local river were we got to swim for a while with some village boys, then we ate lunch can came back up to the village to do ministry.  A couple of the girls were drafted by Pastor to do medical paper work… which consisted of getting the names, and problems form the patients waiting in line. The rest of us went...

Ministry and Discernment

Hello!  Thanks to all of you for your support of our team through prayer these last few days.  We celebrated our one week “anniversary” as a team just a few days ago and it’s hard to believe with the bonds that have formed that we have only known each other that long. I’m sorry for the delay in posting – we’ve had some computer problems.  Jamaica is beautiful!!!  Our travel day could not have gone more smoothly and we had a wonderful (and beautiful) flight and are enjoying the mountain scenery few of us expected to see.  We are...

Baldeo – A Deep Cleaning

Yesterday we visited with the children again. It went so much better than the chaotic first day and was really fun. We sang songs, musical chairs, danced, wrote with chalk under the shelter as it poured down rain, played with crayons, playdough, and more. Courtney S found a friend named Uziel and they spun circles, tried to talk, and played in the rain with the sidewalk chalk. Tiana and Genesis ground up the chalk and Genesis would giggle as they slapped their hands on the wooden shelter leaving handprints everywhere. The afternoon was nice too. We did take a little nap since we have been...

Mudslide

This morning we visited the site of a mudslide that occurred here in San Pedro less than one month ago.  I have never seen anything like what I saw today.  When you stand on the shore of Lake Atitlan, you see the exquisite beauty of the mountains and the water, but when you turn around and face the land, all that meets your eyes is destruction.  People´s homes were destroyed, their crops obliterated.  Everything is covered in mud.  Debris littered the area–ruined clothes, shoes, dishes, toys, chairs.  We even saw a gift that a child had made for...
