I came to Jamaica on this mission trip thinking that God just wanted me to help people learn more about him. Yeah he wanted that but throughout each day I realized more and more that God sent me here to not only help the people of Jamaica but for the people of Jamaica to help me. I never realized how much I took for granted at home. Being around all these wonderful people who literally have little to nothing and still as happy as they can be is so inspiring. When I first got to Jamaica I went into a bad culture shock I couldn’t breathe I cried and cried and It was almost like I was having an anxiety attack. It was just so overwhelming to be in such heat with no air conditioner, having to eat out of my comfort zone, and seeing how these people lived. I prayed and prayed that God would just give me peace and reassurance that I was supposed to be here because at that time I really didn’t know why I had even come. I wanted to go home so bad. After a while passed and we were all going to sleep I finally felt better. I still didn’t know exactly why I was supposed to be here for a while. After going out and doing community outreach and meeting all these wonderful kids and playing with them I finally realized for sure that I was led here to open up to the little kids and to show them love that they may not have and also to be more appreciative and loving as a person. Meeting all these amazing kids is so life changing. I’m gonna miss them all so much. I hope that I touched their hearts. I hope that they felt Jesus through me and, that they will come to know him as their lord and savior and, will come to church even though we aren’t there and, will just live in peace and comfort knowing that God is with them every step of the way. If you ever have doubt about being on a mission trip that you got involved in just know that God has a plan for you and you are on it for a reason and that you may not figure out that reason until maybe even after your trip is over but stay strong in your faith and have a positive attitude because that is what really helped me to have this life changing experience.
