Be Still

When God placed Uganda on my heart, I had this sudden urge to just get up and go. I had this picture of me moving mountains and changing a nation. I thought all these broken people were going to see Jesus in me and be forever changed, but God had a completely different picture in mind. Since the first day at training camp, back in Georgia, God has been placing the words “Be Still” all over me. One night we were all worshipping and singing our lungs out, but I felt like I needed to stop and listen. I was washed over with this sense of emptiness. See, I have heard people say...

From Where I Stand

Exhaustion. What we all have been feeling now that our incredible adventure is soon coming to an end. Looking back to the very first day, it’s hard to believe I had never been on a plane, that we all knew so little Spanish, and that we thought we could beat the locals at soccer. Throughout this trip we have seen God work, we’ve invited Him to lead our leaders. And the willingness to learn, to try, to discover the reality of God’s love has become a common theme for our team.                I know, for myself anyway, I embarked on this...

Party in Baltimore, Ireland

Incredible. That’s the only word I can think to describe this country. From the people… to the beauty I see everywhere I look… to this amazing team. Incredible. We are currently tackling week number two! We have about sixteen or seventeen days left here in beautiful Ireland. It’s honestly extremely crazy to think that I’m in a different country. Sometimes I find myself walking along the countryside roads taking in all the amazing scenery then think, “I’m in a different country. I left everyone in America to go spread the love of Christ.”...

Day of Rest

Hello world and all who inhabits it! (Or at least those that care enough to read this post) This whole blogging thing is very new to me, so bear with me here.             All I want to talk about is the team’s first day of rest. Adventures in Missions tries to allow all of its missionaries one day of rest a week. It’s supposed to be a day to catch up with our individual time with God, fellowship with the team, and explore the country that we are currently living in. So far, today was our first day of rest. This team...

Drifting away from my comfort zone

I have never posted a blog before, and I can honestly say I have no idea how to start. I guess I can say that this experience has been so different than anything I have ever seen. Yes, I have been to east Africa twice, but this is so much farther out of my comfort zone. First off, I came with a group of girls, from all over the country, that I have never met before; and let me make it clear, I have never done anything like that in my life. I went to Kenya with close friends who I have known for years. Although it is different, it has been awesome. My team is like a family, and we became...

Through the Eyes of the Ambassadors

The Ambassador Jamaica team (The JamFam) arrived in Kingston last Monday after an intense weekend of preparation at the Adventures office in Georgia. The way this team took every challenge that was thrown at them was more than impressive. They have tackled each ministry given to them with  enthusiasm and have chosen joy in every situation. They continue love each other and encourage one another through it all. It has been an amazing time of renewal and breaking down walls within themselves so they can pour the Father’s love out on Jamaica. Here are some of...
