Searching For Love In Darkness

As I look over my right shoulder, I notice a tall white man, easily over the age of 60, pacing rather quickly towards the now closed mall.  While I watch him move amongst the locals,  I have trouble not feeling ashamed or even a little hate towards what he is about to do.  This man, who could possibly have a daughter of his own, is going to purchase one of the hundreds of young girls standing outside the bars displaying themselves as “products”.  However, what I didn’t realize is that he is probably staying for a couple months and each night will...

Over the Airwaves

Sometimes, doing kingdom work looks like shoveling loads of gross, muddy, pig slop, sweating so much your eyes burn, and working until theres no strength left in your fingers to hold the shovel. However, there are other times where ministry looks like being invited into a Christian Radio studio to sing, speak and share. For the ambassadors of God’s Kingdom to Guatemala ministry Wednesday was a super fun time of being on the radio! The Weight of Glory

10 days, only 10 days I was able to spend in Jamaica, but wow did God make the most out of that very short time. He stretched me physically emotionally and definitely spiritually in ways I have never been stretched before. 2 Corinthians 4:17 says “For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison”?? these past two weeks have definitely been another step in preparing me for that oh so sweet weight of glory.Me, tyler, and over 20 girls, makes for a pretty crazy experience, and I had no clue what to expect. I decided that I was...

Life in Uganda!

Life in Uganda is good. And yet, the African bush is incredibly different from what we’re used to back home. Here’s a glimpse into our daily life! At 7:30am we come together for a traditional Eastern African breakfast that is often served with flat bread (Chipati) or even donuts (Mandazi). There’s always popping hot tea and coffee to sip as well!  This week we spent some of our days at a local school. The school doesn’t have electricity, they have ONE book for an entire classroom of students, and they only have 22 pencils for a group 35 students.  Quite...

“Life Changing”

These last two days have been emotional. Majorly emotional. Saying goodbye to 26 individuals who were all strangers to me two weeks ago but are now some of my best friends – goodbye to a beautiful country with even more beautiful people in it – goodbye to leaders who have become huge role models – going back home which means being submerged in the world… It’s a lot to take in. As our team reflects on our time together, the most common words I hear are “life changing”. Most people describe mission trips as “life changing”...

Thank you for letting me get to know the people of Jamaica, and thank you for letting them change my life. Thank you for showing me that you don’t need money to be happy, you don’t need to...
