hitting the manzini streets is something different in itself. thursday and friday we were sent from the aim base to explore the markets and people of this town. and what i discovered was slowness and sweetness and uniqueness all wrapped up in the street rhythms. my mind was caught in the way these people simply value conversation. i could stop anyone for a question and there was no rush found in the answer. men driving by would stick their heads out the windows for a big wave and hello. we received more than a few stares considering our skin color; however, the way we stood out led to...

There are so many things I could share about this trip thus far, but the thing most heavily on my heart is a topic not easily discussed yet has been mentioned in the bible since Genesis– shame. “And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed.” Genesis 2:25 ESV. When I read this I wonder, “why shame?” God could have said that they knew no sickness or fear or anything really, but He specifically said shame. This leads me to believe that shame is the one thing that we were never created to know, yet shame is something we’ve all experienced....

Every single morning I wake up, walk out of my bedroom, and marvel at the beauty that God created all around me. I’m a firm believer that Swaziland is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Most mornings I pinch myself as a reminder that I’m really in Africa. Isn’t that crazy? In 2 years God has literally taken me all over the globe. I pray for a yes kind of faith. I pray that whenever and wherever God calls me I’ll say yes.
