Whatsoever you Do

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters” Colossians 3:23   On Saturday during our off day we had the yummy privilege of heading to a restaurant called Stretta which was a delicious Italian restaurant with a Café vibe.  We dined on pasta and desserts and the girls were definitely stuffed by the end.  We also had the opportunity to meet and spend time learning the story of our waitress Portia and the work that she is doing in her village.   We first got on the topic of ministry when she asked us...

Unity, the Lionhearted, & the Audible Voice of God

Lovely, fierce, bold, tender, & beautiful all in one are the lionhearted. Okay, let’s look at my life situationally. I committed one month of my life to live in Swaziland, an African country 13,000 miles away, with thirteen people I have never met because I woke up one morning & heard God say, “Let’s get going.” You know, just missionary things. Over the past couple of days i have been looking over the idea of love. What does love look like? What does love say? How does love act? Why is it so easy to do and at the same time forget how precious it is. I’m guilty of throwing the word around as though it has no meaning. But the lord has begun to show me what true love is. By true love i don’t mean the kind of love that is in the latest nicholas sparks novel. I mean the kind of love that sets you free, the kind of love that doesn’t go away when you mess up, or when you turn away. This revelation of true love started...

Expectations versus Reality

I liked to tell everyone that I had no expectations for the trip. I was going to be spending 3 weeks in the Dominican Republic and all I wanted was tofeel a part of the team, experience God and have fun. I wanted to believe that I was going into the next few weeks totally dependent on God.    The truth was, I did have expectations- and a lot of them. As soon as I arrived in Georgia for training camp, I was already filled with anxiety over an assortment of things.  Will my team like me? Will I make any friends? Will I embarrass myself a lot? Will I feel...
