Satan Knows Scripture, How Much More Should I

As I was spending time with Jesus the other morning, I was reading Matthew 4:1-10 about when Jesus had fasted for 40 days and 40 nights and was alone in the desert. Satan went to Jesus and was tempting Him. Satan was distorting scripture and trying to get Jesus to sin and each time Jesus would counter saying “it is written.” God was highlighting to me that Satan knows scripture; he often uses it to distract us from the truth, helping us to justify the sin in our lives and straight out blaspheme God. From the beginning Satan has done this. We see in Genesis 3:1-7, that Eve was...

God Had a Plan

Hola! One day this past week I got the chance to share a story with a small Nicaraguan village. The story I shared was my parents legacy, from their high school days to where they are now. I was super encouraged after speaking, when Ron, our host, came up to me and said that the story was great and touched a lot of people there. I thought it was really cool that God had planned out my parents story so that one day it could reach people on a whole different country.

Intentional Time

After a few long flights and layovers we have finally made it to Albania and God has taught me many things along the way. We were welcomed by our host, George, who has taught us practical work skills and skills we need to grow spiritually. From training camp to the first night here, the idea that sticks out to me is being intentional with others and God. In a foreign place with new faces and challenges it can be easy to distance ourselves from God and the people around us. Our team decided as a group that being intentional would be one of our goals for this trip. I’ve tried to...

Team USA, Day 6: Lincoln Park

Today was our first “day off” from ministry, and we set out early for a Chicago adventure. We drove to Lincoln Park, which is another Chicago neighborhood, but is very different from Pilsen where we are staying and serving. On the way to our first destination, Lincoln Park Zoo, we got a glimpse of the Lake Michigan, Soldier Field (home of Da Bearssssss), the Field Museum, Navy Pier, and downtown Chicago. We spent the morning exploring the zoo. Favorite animals included flamingos, giraffe, gorilla, seals, river otters, and (my favorite) penguins! After lunch we set out on a...

First Experiences

Going on a mission trip for the first time can be intimidating, especially if you’re with strangers. However, it can also be life changing.  For me, this trip so far has been a memorable one. On the last night of launch, during our worship time, I experienced God’s presence in a way that I’ve always longed for. I think a part of my heart grew closer to God and for that I am so thankful. I’ve also experienced a lot of “firsts” on this journey. I’ve gone to three new places. I’m flown on a plane. I’ve done a prayer walk. I’ve...
