Beauty For Ashes Widows Retreat

We were asked to put on a retreat for 40 widows that Vision Nicaragua works with. We picked the story of Ruth to show how our Heavenly Father loves and provides for us, meeting us in our despair. Seeing Christ Everywhere

As we come to a close in our time in Ecuador, I am in awe of the ways I have seen Christ in many of the people here. The Ecuadorians we met are warm and greet one another with a handshake and a kiss on the cheek. They are inclusive and truly treat each other as brothers and sisters in Christ. Knowing God

I have met a lot of people in the last two weeks who say they have always known God.  When I ask them to tell me about Him, they can describe Him from a distance.  The same way that they know about Justin Beiber, Will Smith and Pablo Picasso.     The thing is, that I know God.  I don’t only know about him, I know God personally, intimately.  I am in relationship with Him.  We hang out every day.     I get to know Him more by reading the Bible, praying, talking to Him throughout the day (kinda like texting,) worshiping Him for everything...

Joy Amongst the Hurt

As we begin to reflect on the first half of our journey in Ecuador, the many experiences have formed complete thoughts. One of the things we have done several times is visit a community that lives across from a local dump. The families originally lived inside of the dump, but recently got kicked out. Now, many of the families struggle to make a living, as it is illegal to sift through the trash to sell. Many of the fathers have resorted to stealing or smuggling trash illegally.
