Beginnings

After months, and weeks, and days of preparation, we are finally here in the Dominican. We got  our first glimse of this beautiful country out of the plane windows. For me, that was when I realized that the dream had become a reality. That night we got on the bus and drove 2 hours to Azua, the community where we will be serving. This culture is a bit confusing at times; Dominicans take pride in there apperance and always look clean and presentable even thought the house in which they live may be nothing more that 4 concrete walls and a tin roof. Our hosts are the nicest, most most...

Hola!

I am sitting in an internet cafe in Nauta at the moment. We just saw Luke, Emily, Katie, Kyle, Jheri, and Ben perform one of our dramas, it was really powerful. We are in the town square at a campaign which here is like an outdoor christian rally. Mary Beth explained our drama to a pretty big crowd. This is the second night the students have performed here at the square. As Kacie has said we are leaving to go upriver at 5:00 am tomorrow moring. It will be about 10hrs to get upriver and we will return on the 4th (I hope to blog again on the 5th). The team has been an immense blessing to me...

VBS and Brennan’s 16th Birthday

Guatemala, 26 June 2009 Hey everyone, we hope this finds you just as filled with the love of God as we feel. Today was our first day of VBS at Antonio’s (Gary’s friend) church! We had so much fun today. Our skit of David and Goliath was a hit (sorry there are no pictures of the skit yet). All the kids really liked seeing Hannah Lanning on top of her brother’s, Peter, shoulders. We also played a lot of games…pato, pato, ganzo (duck, duck, goose) and soccer/basketball/football/whatever you want to call it. We got owned by seven year olds. Even though the language...

We Made it to Peru!

It is officially 12:49am and we are sitting in Lima, Peru.  We are excited to finally be in Peru, but the team is very worn out with all of the traveling.  We left Gainsville this morning at 3:00am and we haven`t stopped traveling yet!  The Lord has blessed our team with safe travels and we have one more flight to go.  We should arrive in Iquitos around 6am.  Please pray for strength and that we may rest in the Lord.    God is already beginning a great work, he has taught our team about trust, patience, and His will.  This afternoon we received...
