Romans 10:14

hola hermanos y hermanas (as you can see my spanish is improving!) The team has had a great few days.  A few days ago we went to play some basketball and met up with… what do you know, some other Americans! We knew they were coming, but they didnt know we were there, and they werer quite suprised. We played some basketball with them and the Peruvians. They played the Peruvians first and then left. And then our team, consisting of Lindsay, Kelly, Ben, Ryan and I payed the Peruvians and claimed victory over them. I am only saying this because if we were ever to play futbol they...

One Day at a Time

Thursday we discovered a new ministry we very much enjoyed. We worked most of the day sorting and putting coats of varnish on beads made from recycled magazine paper, which will then be made into bracelets by local Nicaraguans. The bracelets are sold at various stores here in Granada, as well as a few in the States. The project was originally started to raise money for VidaJoven (YoungLife in the States). Now, the workers also have the opportunity to be paid a fair wage and are continually in an environment that points them toward Christ.     Most of Friday was spent...

Listening in Prayer

So often, we tell God everything we want and need, and we throw up a few words of praise or maybe a bit of confession, but then we walk away.  We end our prayers, and we have never even given the Lord a chance to speak.  What a crazy concept!  How would you feel if someone came up to you, talked your ear off for twenty minutes and then walked away–never giving you a chance to respond or share your thoughts?  On Saturday, our team devoted the entire day to listening to the Lord in prayer.  We talked about ways to hear from God and how to test what you hear to...

Family Photos

We spent yesterday morning taking pictures for Nicaraguan families. At the end of the session, we decided to take a few silly pictures of our own. Taylor, who has an incredible imagination, came up with some great ideas. Anna Z., who loves to laugh, egged her on. The result was 30 minutes of fake moustaches, pig noses, stuffed cows and mayhem. Pray for the team as there has been a virus going around and we are not feeling 100%. Everyone is still up and moving, except for myself. Half of the team will be taking it easy over the next few days as we try to build up our immune systems with...

An Unexpected Twist

Sunday night was definitely one to remember!  About half of our team braved a truck ride through pouring rain to arrive at a local church service.  We planned to attend it and maybe sing one song.  However, when we arrived, we found out that the pastor expected us to conduct the entire service.  SURPRISE!  We quickly put together a list of things to do, and we did it well.  We sang, read Scripture, played the piano, shared testimonies and gave a brief message.  Some of us even sang acapella!  We truly felt out of our comfort zone, but God has a plan...

Shower Bugs and Market Rugs

Well, we are starting on our second week in Mexico and hoping for even greater blessings! After some downtime this weekend, team Chosen is ready for ministry these next three days. We visited a childrens. home Saturday, had a great time getting buckets poured on us, and new nicknames (ducks). Our guys got rocked in soccer games, but we rep’d for Jesus. Sunday we split into groups and visited the marketplace, with all the unique stands in Matamoros. We visited a church service at night. That was definitly an experience, The people were very welcoming and charasmatic, and with a...
