Adventures with Amalia

Last week, we had the pleasure of taking a bunch of kids from a nearby orphanage to the zoo. After seeing all the animals, we had a few hours to kill. Instead of chilling in the shade, I ended up playing soccer tennis with some of the kids. I don’t remember the boy’s name but the two girls I played with were Amalia and Andrea.       I grew up playing soccer but I quit recently because it wasn’t fun anymore; it got too...

Agua Frescas

Being in Matamoros the past few days has really been incredible. The Lord has placed a lot of different ministry opportunities in front of us and we are excited about getting involved in them. Day 1 (Tuesday) we got to drive around and see a little bit of the city. We visited a few poor neighborhoods called colonias and a few churches. It was really shocking to our team to see the poverty and devastation within these communities. The rain has hit some of the homes really hard causing roofs to blow off and flooding to occur. Day 2 (Wednesday) The Lord led us to visit a woman in her...

Here’s a short snap shot of our first week through our own eyes… Katie Ruh :: “We are already having such an incredible time. During training camp God brought all of us together. Feeling emotions from every extreme left us vulnerable as God steadily worked through us. Training camp ended and we were physically, emotionally and spiritually ready for Cebu! Over 20 hours of flying left us all quite tired; however, arriving in Cebu safely was such a relief and blessing. We are now ready to work...

Training Camp and 1st Day (and a half) in Monteblanco

Hola from the Monte Blanco Center in Bolivia.  Team Un-Bolivia-ble arrived here last night a short 30 hours after we left the AIM Base in Gainesville.  We arrived to Monte Blanco feeling a mixture of emotions: tired, excited, nervous, and hungry.  Luckily, we arrived in time for a wonderful and very warm welcome from the Monte Blanco Staff who have done everything possible to make us feel welcome, loved, and a part of the family here.  While we all arrived safe and sound, we were missing one piece of luggage.  Fortunately, it arrived tonight without delay. Thank you...

A New Definition of Family

“But he replied to the man who told him, “Who is my mother and who are my brothers?”. And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother,” Matthew 12:48-50 Family has always played a huge role in my life. That really goes without saying when people find out I am the oldest of four and graduated high school having been home schooled my entire life. But my family has never been strictly the people that share my DNA. I’ve...
