Nicaragua (For Lack of a Better Title)

God has taught me alot on this trip about prayer, trust, community, grief, joy, and alot more.  I´ve felt close to God at some times and at others wondered why he didn´t show himself more clearly.  He has also taught me alot about the gifts he has given me as well as goals for the future that I am very excited about.  I love this opportunity to be completely forcused on serving God and I can´t wait to live out what I have learned  when I go home.  <oh God, you are my God, and I will ever praise you.  I will seek you in the morning, and I...

La Cascada

We arrived at the children’s home on Saturday afternoon. Helen informed us that the weekend would be very relaxed, which meant Sunday (the Fourth of July) was completely free. On my last trip to the island, we wanted to visit this amazing waterfall on the smaller of the two volcanos that make up Ometepe. I mentioned this to the team and the question of what we would do all day was solved. No one in our group wanted to spend Fourth of July thinking about what our families were doing back in the states. So we loaded up on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, hired a guide, and took...

They Don’t Forget

One of the most exciting things about coming back to a country that you have already been in is meeting the people that you met before and seeing the ways that ministry has progressed.  As we made our way to Riverside for the first time this year, I couldn’t help but smile.  I was so excited to see the children.  They do not dissappoint, and they definitely don’t forget. As we stepped into the community children began appearing out of everywhere yelling for us and running in our direction.  I and Joy are the only ones that they recognize, but they are so...

Student Blogs Part 2

Blog by Christina YoungThis trip has answered many questions that I’ve had about my life. Scotland has also made me answer questions that the Lord has put on my heart. Since I entered the Stanley House I have asked Him to removed all the walls and distractions from my life. When I return home I pray that temptations and old habits will not arise. A song that really sums up this category of life is “Hurricane” by Jimmy Needham it states that I need God to come into my life like a hurricane and tear all my walls down.  It says I am His now. He is the eye of the storm...

Agua Frescas

Being in Matamoros the past few days has really been incredible. The Lord has placed a lot of different ministry opportunities in front of us and we are excited about getting involved in them. Day 1 (Tuesday) we got to drive around and see a little bit of the city. We visited a few poor neighborhoods called colonias and a few churches. It was really shocking to our team to see the poverty and devastation within these communities. The rain has hit some of the homes really hard causing roofs to blow off and flooding to occur. Day 2 (Wednesday) The Lord led us to visit a woman in her...
