Mrs. Pansy

While the majority of our team spent more time working at and around the School for the Blind, the mornings usually found me and a few of our team at the home for the aged, a nursing home/assisted living facility for 20 or so women in varying conditions of health.   One morning, I was playing my guitar outside on the small porch by the sick bay along while Elijah played his cajon and Sam sang along.  Ms. Malcolm and Ms. Taylor (or Ms. Florence if you go by first name) were in their usual chairs and Ms. Taylor was gleefully clapping along with “I’ll Fly...

Update on the Team!

Hey, Everyone! We spoke with one of the team’s leaders, Michelle, today. The team is doing well! They went into the bush today for ministry and are going back tomorrow. Today they helped with 2 awards ceremonies. Several of the students were able to give testimonies… and they saw a monkey, which really excited the girls! Their internet access has been limited, which is why there haven’t been many updates on this blog. Thank you for your patience! Don Rock, our Director, has been in touch with Helping Hands, the ministry they are working with, and we have upmost confidence...

Clown Costumes and Pancakes

Highlights from the last few days: Watching half of our team hop around at the last VBS dressed in clown attire- complete with white faces and blue noses.  Volunteering to help wash dishes and getting attacked by the cook with pancake batter and flour.  Enjoying the scenery in this amazing country! Learning 5 skits in 3 days. 🙂 We’re pretty much acting professionals. The kids have loved it! Perfecting the spanish language via children’s songs.  Intense volleyball tournaments with the Monteblanco staff.  We can buy two liters of pepsi, candy, and new earring...

A Long Awaited Welcome Home

Hey everyone! God is good! We had an amazing trip. We went through a lot and worked hard. We had some hard conversations, but good. God did a lot of amazing things during our trip. To the Parents: Thank you! I, and the other leaders, could not have asked for 13 better students to be on this trip. I was so blessed through the interactions that we had and I will never be able to explain the lasting impact that each of these students has had on my life. They truly are an amazing group of kids, and I miss each one of them dearly. To our supporters: thank you for your paryers! Many of times we...

Nicaragua (For Lack of a Better Title)

God has taught me alot on this trip about prayer, trust, community, grief, joy, and alot more.  I´ve felt close to God at some times and at others wondered why he didn´t show himself more clearly.  He has also taught me alot about the gifts he has given me as well as goals for the future that I am very excited about.  I love this opportunity to be completely forcused on serving God and I can´t wait to live out what I have learned  when I go home.  <oh God, you are my God, and I will ever praise you.  I will seek you in the morning, and I...

My Trip to Nicaragua

Hello everyone!    This trip has been AMAZING! I´m a little bit sick but that´s okay. The people here are amazing….but God used a two mile hike (uphil at an unforgiving elevation) to let me shed my expectations, personal desires, and the way that my life was before this trip. At the top of the hike was the most incredible waterfall I have ever seen! There was a pool of water at the bottom to swim in. I layed flat on my back in the water and stared up at this magnificent creation the made me feel so tiny. I litterally felt like I was laying in the arms of God. He...
