Team USA: Forever Changed

God has shown me so many things this month. One month ago, I came into this trip excited. I had no idea that I would be changed and share intimate things with people I didn’t know before. God taught me that He is always in control and that I don’t have to leave the country in order to serve Him and His kingdom.

Sometimes in our lives we think we know better than God or try to go against Him. But that NEVER works. He knows everything about us and knows what we are going to do. Isaiah 41:10 says, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” God is never going to leave you or forsake you, instead he will love you and strengthen you.

God loves me. I learned that a lot this month. He loves me regardless of what is in my past. He loves me through my past and present and will continue loving me in my future. I always felt like God didn’t really love me “fully” because of things I went through growing up, but I learned that God absolutely LOVES me and will never stop loving me. 1 John 4:16 says “and so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God.” That verse has hit me hard this month. It really dig deep and showed me that God loves and is love, no matter what.

Lastly, this month has shown me that I don’t have to leave the country to spread the love and word of Jesus. I got to love on and talk to the homeless in Chicago, kids in Johnstown, and both in Nashville. It really taught me that I can do the same things in my own city. Mission trips are always thought to be in third world countries, and yes they need Jesus, too, but so do the people living here, in our cities and towns.

I’m sad this month is ending, but I’m so excited to use what I learned at home. I’ve made some great memories and I’ve gained a family along the way. I am forever changed, and I cannot wait to see what God is going to do with my life!
