“Old Pine”

“As the old pine fell we sang, just to bless the morning”

Old Pine by Ben Howard. A song whose lyrics hit home today.

As my adventures in Uganda come to a close, I feel the call to many more. When I step off the airplane in Atlanta, GA to end our trip, I know another will be there to take me to experiences greater than I could have hoped or imagined. As the “Old Pine” is falling my heart sings.

We’ve had a week filled with school children’s laughter, rooftop safari rides and late night, starlit conversations with friends. Each moment precious, every memory heart warming. It’s a bittersweet thing to be sitting here in this room. I’m surrounded by my teammates reading, writing and watching videos from our safari. I can almost see the heart ties webbing to and fro across the room.

‘Many waters cannot quench love, rivers cannot wash it away’ -Song Of Songs 8:7

Anything our God builds is strong. Anything our Creator breathes into being is filled with Life and Love. Every bond the  Spirit has tied won’t be broken by time or space.

What I mean by that is, even as my heart breaks to leave, God has ordained it to be so. He called me to come, He is calling me to go. Perhaps He will call me back someday. I am learning to REST in that.
