Bienvenidos a Camp Caribe!

After a little bit of sleep, and lot of fun at training camp, our team, Las Solicitantes (the seekers) set our alarms Sunday night for 2:45 AM! We drank some coffee and enjoyed our sack breakfasts in our fr-fr-freeeeezing terminal at the airport, anxiously awaiting our flight to San Jose, Puerto Rico! We prayed for safety and smooth sailing (flying?) and The Lord provided.

After landing, our contacts Kaylah and Harry picked us up, and we got to enjoy some real Puerto Rican food for lunch… tacos from taco bell 😉 The commute to our camp took about 45 minutes, and we took in the beautiful views as we twisted and wound through the mountains.

When we arrived at our home for the next two weeks, the Caribbean Sea was way too inviting to not take a dip. I encouraged our team to throw on their suits and jump in! As Erin and I watched all 9 of them join hands and jump through waves together, we felt a surge of joy and thankfulness at how these girls who’d met only 3 days prior had connected and chosen to invest in each other already.

So far, we have gotten to spend some time getting to know people at Camp Caribe and prepping for the VBS that we are assisting with this week in the barrio (neighborhood). From crafts, to memory verses, to choreographed worship in Spanish, we’ve got a lot of activities for the kids who will be joining us and we’re pretty pumped about it!
Last night at team time, several of our team members sharedwith us the way they have already felt their hearts impacted and moved by Holy Spirit.

“I am not afraid to go home; in the past I have felt really on fire for God at camps and stuff, but it wears off or I feel judged by my friends. This time I’m not afraid to go home, I know that this change is real!”

If you would like to join us in prayer, here are some things  we’ll be praying about:

-That The Lord would move in mighty ways through the VBS, camp, and projects that we will be working on in the barrios and at Camp Caribe.

-That we would hear Holy Spirit and receive direction from him.

-Against spiritual warfare; we are here to bring the Kingdom and tell people the Good News, and we know that is not what the enemy wants! We willbe praying through out our days that God will protect us from any attacks and keep us strong and energized to carry out His work!
