Ready for training camp

Wow! I cannot believe that it is finally here! It seems as though just yesterday Puerto Rico was just a possibilty in my head, and now it is finally here!! I am so so super excited to see what God will be doing through my team and I these next couple of weeks! As for right now I ask that y’all pray for our safety, and for the people we will be serving and loving on these next couple of weeks! Thanks so much! And I will be sure to post as much as I can!

The Adventure Begins

I have been waiting for this day to arrive. Getting to training camp and starting this adventure in missions! God has called me to travel and teach children about him and simply show them what true love is through smiles and authentic hugs. During this trip I hope to be present in every moment and find a way to see God’s beauty and creation all around me. Even in the places that seem dark and empty, God shows up anywhere and everywhere through us. I can’t wait to have fun for God! Let’s do this!!

I Want to Be Broken

Two weeks ago I returned home after leading the Jamaica Ambassador team in Kingston.  We lived on the Salvation Army base where there was a nursing home and orphanage on site. One thing I had forgotten was how difficult it was to love orphans at times. They are some of the worst behaved children I have ever had to deal with. We were in charge of VBS while there. It would have been easier to teach bible stories to a room full of squirrels. I found myself frustrated more than anything. I was irritated with the children that wanted to climb all over me instead of listed. I was annoyed...

Acceptance

We come into this life not fully coherent of the world around us. From the moment we were conceived in our mother’s womb, we are dependent. As we age, we become “independent” beginning with our first steps as children. And as we continue in this life, our first walking steps becoming running ones, society deems us fully “independent” when we can pay the bills by ourselves.   This is where I disagree.
