Just A Glimpse of Jesus

The second day of ministry hit me the hardest. When we walk towards our first slum for ministry we cross over the river on this metal bridge. The part that hit me was the view of the river. On the river’s edge was an insurmountable amount of trash. The thing is, there was still plenty of life. The coast was filled with flourishing trees, bushes, and shrubs. You can perceive that two different ways. Either that the trash is choking the life out of this greenery, or that even though pollution is present, life prevails. This reminded me of one of my favorite passages, Psalm 57. Even...

A little bit of laughter and a whole lot of love

With every child there is bound to be laughter, and with every laugh there is bound to be love. This has pretty much been the center of my time so far in Swaziland. There is nothing like hearing a little child laugh hysterically. It is so joyful, so uplifting, and so hopeful. I think the thing I love most about laughter is the child like silliness. Team USA: A New Perspective on VBS

I went into this mission trip not believing that VBS was true ministry work. I didn’t favor it because I never felt like I was making a difference. I didn’t consider it a “mature” ministry service, but busy work.  This week, that totally changed. I started to see the diffeence and rhe meaning. I connected with two sisters. I started to see their interest and joy in learning bible verses, and I saw them grow by the day. I knew that it was going to be a hard goodbye on our last day. They would beg every day for me to stay with them and they wished I...

We arrived safe and sound at the New Life Baptist Church in Nashville around 6 this evening. The team is excited to attend church here in the morning, and look forward to the ministry opportunities that await us this week! Good night, y’all!

Overwhelming, Endless, Undeniable Love

I’ve been on a few mission trips before, but never anything as long or as far away as this one. We are halfway through our stay here in Swaziland and the thought of only being here for two more weeks is slowly breaking my heart. I’ve started to fall for this beautiful country and everything that comes along with it. It is crazy how different Swazi is from back home, but all the differences make my heart swell with joy. The differences aren’t just the basic things like the language, food, or landscape. It’s everything. It’s the strangers that yell greetings...
