Muddy Mess

Stories from Training Camp: We woke up at 3am to rain coming down on us – we hurried to pull the rain tarps over each tent and then settled in for the down pour. Eight hours later it was still coming down and puddles were slowing forming inside our tents as a river of red georgia mud was forming outside of them.   We decided to high tail it to higher ground – it was a hilarious parade of fun as everyone, soaking wet, grabbed anything in sight and carried it off to dry ground.   We had not seen the end of the mud though…   Our recent team builder was an...

Pura Vida!

Hello to all our family, friends, and supporters from Costa Rica! I have the opportunity to write a quick update of the team and how everything is going.  I am typing this blog from our host{s computer, which has been configured to work on spanish websites, so you{ll have to forgive some of the symbols being mixed up!   We arrived at the San Jose airport safe and sound yesterday around noon our time (2 pm EST).  Pastor Marcos and his wife Edy received us at the airport and we took a chartered bus to El Eden church campus.  El Eden is the church that...

Ephesians 2:19

A snapshot of my life right now:  My team is upstairs; Bryan is messing around on his accoustic guitar, playing some Jack Johnson song, and occasionally whooping loud enough for me to hear from downstairs. Someone’s singing and someone else is snapping their fingers. Most of our Romanian family are outside working on the pig pen, except for Sanda and Laura who are playing with their children on the bed as Beni (a little five year old boy) repeats, “Google-y goo! Google-y goo!” We’ve just got back from playing with a group of very poor gypsy children and the day...

The Body of Christ

Finally, all of you, live in harmony with one another; be sympathetic, love as brothers, be compassionate and humble.1 Peter 3:8 God has been teaching me to work with a team.  I’ve totally had to give up all independence since I’ve been here.  I’ve learned how awesome it is to not have to rely on myself for everything and to be able to trust my team.  This has been an important lesson for me because through it, I’ve learned how the body of Christ works. We’re not made to do everything by ourselves but to put trust in our brothers and sisters in...

Comfort Only God Can Give

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comforts, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.”  2 Corinthians 1:3-4          This Wednesday will mark two weeks here in Romania. I have really fallen in love with the people, the culture, and the overall beauty of the country. During this past week God has been teaching me that I need to fully rely on Him for my comfort not on other people. I...

Into the Jungle

Hey all, First off, HAPPY 4th OF JULY!!! Second, this is going to be our last blog for a little bit. Reason being is we are heading into the jungle early tomorrow morning, and since it is the jungle, there is not much electricity, hence communications will be sparse, if any.  If there is an opportunity to call or blog, we will definitely take that opportunity, but there most likely will not be.  We will leave bright and early tomorrow morning at 7 am on a barge and travel for most of the day until we arrive at the village we are going to. We will most likely spend a few days at...
