Satan Knows Scripture, How Much More Should I

As I was spending time with Jesus the other morning, I was reading Matthew 4:1-10 about when Jesus had fasted for 40 days and 40 nights and was alone in the desert. Satan went to Jesus and was tempting Him. Satan was distorting scripture and trying to get Jesus to sin and each time Jesus would counter saying “it is written.” God was highlighting to me that Satan knows scripture; he often uses it to distract us from the truth, helping us to justify the sin in our lives and straight out blaspheme God. From the beginning Satan has done this. We see in Genesis 3:1-7, that Eve was tempted...

God Had a Plan

Hola! One day this past week I got the chance to share a story with a small Nicaraguan village. The story I shared was my parents legacy, from their high school days to where they are now. I was super encouraged after speaking, when Ron, our host, came up to me and said that the story was great and touched a lot of people there. I thought it was really cool that God had planned out my parents story so that one day it could reach people on a whole different country.

Mahanain

Today we went to Mahanain, the poorest community we will be visiting on this trip. This community has no water, no electricity, and no actual bathrooms. I saw this and appreciated the fact that though she had little, she wanted to make sure that what she did have was in tip-top shape. After...

Little is Much

Our first morning in Nicaragua, we had just finished breakfast and as I was walking across the compound I met a little girl, Sarasha.  She was with her Mother, visiting the doctor at the clinic onsite.  The first thing she did was confidently offer me one of the two cookies she was eating for breakfast.   Even though she had little (two white oreo like cookies) for her breakfast, she was so readily wanting to share with me.   I accepted her cookie, twisted it and offered half of the cookie back to her, showing her I also wanted to share. We introduced ourselves to each other...

The Lord’s Word Stays True, No Matter What Language You Speak

Hola Amigos! It’s ya girl comin atcha live from Nicaragua!! It’s been about two days here and i feel convicted to share a little bit of what I’ve experienced. Most importantly- eating iguana. never . again. This morning, our team went into a small village called San Carlos to preach the gospel to people in their homes. The houses are a sight to see- every stick and every scrap are used for a purpose. Their yards are covered by plants and flowers sprouting out of old metal cans or other scraps of trash. They have a way of making anything beautiful. It’s all really underlined...
